Our History & Heritage

​

  STP Performance was founded from a lifelong passion for speed and precision. What began over three decades ago as a small garage for friends and fellow racers has grown into a full-service performance facility. Through the late 1990s and early 2000s, our shop earned a name in South Florida’s car scene by building reliable power and forging trust one project at a time. By 2008, we were hosting enthusiast Dyno Days and tuning events, becoming a hub for the local racing community ( DYNO DAY in SFL @ STP Motorsports Sign-up). Over the years, we expanded our capabilities and in 2024 moved into a larger facility at 4400 Peters Road to better serve our growing clientele. Our heritage is built on hard work, honest service, and a genuine love for all things automotive.

Meet the Owner – Stefan Petrov

​

  At the heart of STP Performance is Stefan Petrov, our owner and master technician. Stefan brings hands-on racing experience and professional expertise to every job. As an ASE-certified Master Technician with manufacturer training, he spent over a decade honing his skills at a major dealership, becoming a GM-certified specialist in the process. But his true passion has always been racing and performance tuning. In his younger years, Stefan could be found wrenching on his own souped-up street cars and competing at local drag nights – experiences that taught him what serious enthusiasts need from a shop. Under his leadership, that grassroots racing spirit lives on at STP. Customers often note that Stefan is exceedingly “honest and fair” in his work (STP Motorsport - Plantation, FL - Nextdoor), taking the time to get each build right. His personal motto is to treat every vehicle as if it were his own, whether it’s a daily driver or a full-blown track machine. We custom-tune engines for optimal horsepower, torque, and reliability – whether it’s for a track day, drag strip, or street performance. With expert ECU calibration, we fine-tune fuel maps, boost, and timing to unlock the full potential of your setup.

• Engine Builds & Upgrades: STP Performance is known for full engine builds – from high-compression naturally aspirated motors to turbocharged and supercharged applications. We handle everything in-house, including machining coordination, forging upgrades, camshaft and valvetrain installs, and complete rebuilds. Whether you want a robust daily driver engine or a 1000+ horsepower race motor, our experienced builders will deliver proven results.

• Performance Parts Installation: We can source and install performance upgrades of all kinds. This includes cold-air intakes, exhaust headers and full custom exhaust systems, turbo and supercharger kits, intercoolers, fuel system upgrades, suspension and brake modifications, clutches and differentials, and more. Every modification is installed with an eye for detail and tested to ensure it performs flawlessly.

• Complete Auto Repair & Maintenance: As a full-service auto facility, we take care of routine maintenance and repairs with the same level of care as our performance projects.
